Anthony Geary wins Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor!
Congratulations to Anthony Geary, who surprised no one by winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, hosted by Tyra Banks and broadcast on Pop TV!
Tony, our very own Luke Spencer, now has EIGHT Emmys to his name – his first win was way back in 1982, and his most recent was in 2012 (that’s thirty years apart, playing the same character!).
In his acceptance speech, he graciously thanked the other actors in his category, and Ron Carlivati “for some spectacular material”.. the directors, production staff and especially Executive Producer Frank Valentini. He also thanked the Academy for “not being sick of me yet”.. (as if!).
For GH fans, this award comes as no surprise – as Luke spiraled out of control, Tony took us on a very compelling journey, playing both Luke and Bill Eckert to perfection. And things only continued to get better in 2015, as he reached new heights playing Luke’s abusive father in the 52nd Anniversary Episode. For me, his every scene is memorable!
Luke is now on the mend in the hospital, doing his best to banish his Dark Half, but some of that recovery will be off-screen (while Tony takes a well-deserved six-week break). In the meantime, Tracy is hoping he will return as the old Luke we all know and love.
