Maura West wins Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress!

Congratulations to Maura West, who was shocked and emotional as she won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Ava Jerome at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, hosted by Tyra Banks on Sunday night (April 26).

Maura was visibly shaken as she leaned on Shemar Moore, and asked him to hold her for a second (heck, I would do the same, Emmy or not!). He told her this was her moment.

In her acceptance speech, she said she thought she had already had her “once in a lifetime as actress”.. and then she met Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati.. who introduced her to Ava Jerome! “You guys.. I love you.. I really do”.

It was a heckuva year for the actress, as she played mobster Ava Jerome to the hilt – going toe to toe with some of the best Port Charles has to offer. AJ Quartermaine didn’t stand a chance, Morgan Corinthos got caught in her web, and it’s not often Sonny Corinthos gets to meet his match!

As of today, Ava’s future is still undetermined.. she asked Silas to help her die, and while he DID inject her with something, it might be too soon to count this drama queen out! Especially since Morgan and Kiki just discovered Avery in Silas’ apartment..

Watch her acceptance speech here… and yes she did accidentally say “Ron Carvilati” (oops!).
